Orthodontic Elite PGA Course

The orthodontic postgraduate award 10 day Elite course is a more comprehensive structured program which pushes the General Dentist to increase their labial orthodontic prowess. The important theory component of this course is imperative to understand more challenging topics of orthodontics. Refreshments will be served at every day.



Aim

It serves as a more extensive combination between theory and practice. Typodont and multiple practical components assist the ability of the clinician to develop their abilities. Troubleshooting and treatment planning practice is the base of this course. Basic IOTN 2, 3 and possibly 4 cases can be treated by students after this course.

Objective

  1. Clinicians would learn to bond up cases in a basic orthodontic technique.
  2. Clinicians would be able to perform simple alignment, levelling and bite correction.
  3. Class I, II, III cases are discussed. Mechanics specific to these malocclusions are taught.
  4. Able to utilise moderate complicated mechanics including de-rotations, piggy back techniques etc.
  5. Review and bring about simple finishing procedures.
  6. Understand the basic topics in orthodontics such as Growth, Development, Bone and Tooth Movement and Radiology in Orthodontics.
  7. Understand materials topics in orthodontics such as Metals, Brackets and Mechanics.
  8. Understand the treatment of Class I, II, III malocclusions and Extractions in Orthodontics.
  9. Understand the treatment of Hypodontia, Impacted and Supernumery teeth.
  10. Understand Iatrogenic issues in Orthodontics, Stability and Retention.
  11. Understand the fundamentals in Lingual Orthodontics, TADs and newer techniques.
